BOOK REVIEW: Dark Aeon by Joe Allen

This book is a must-read for understanding transhumanism. Joe Allen lays out the timeline of technocracy in a very readable, riveting format. The horror is that these transhumanists are going to do it! It’s like watching some politicians continue to pursue their destructive policies with abandon; they seem unable to stop themselves. What will it take to halt their "progress"? Dark Aeon will take you down the rabbit hole.

Pros:

  • There are so many excellent threads of thought. The author really is a good writer. I liked his shaping of the transhumanist ideology as "digital alchemy". Rather than trying to mix base elements to produce gold, we are now trying to mix the digital and the physical to make a god. It is basic belief in humanism (and evolutionism) that inverts the spiritual order so that higher orders emerge from lower orders, even to the point of resurrecting the dead without God's help. They believe that a digital god will emerge from the technology in the near future. They seek to merge with that "divinity" to ensure eternal life, and like Frankenstein, they embrace the prospect regardless of the chaos and destruction that follows in their wake.
